Deuteronomy
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading Deuteronomy tomorrow, May 28. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan)
The book of Deuteronomy gives Moses’ parting words with the Israelites. It is composed of three speeches to the people. In the first speech Moses recounts the history of their flight from Egypt and their experience at Mt. Sinai.
Moses’ second speech reviews the laws God had given the people. He also warned them not to anger God by disobeying them. His third speech reviewed the covenant agreement that God had made with the Israelite nation and the protection it would provide them if they kept God’s laws.
The final chapter tells of Moses’ death and the transfer of authority to Joshua, the new leader of the Israelites.
