Two-Year Bible Reading Plan
I invite you to join me on a two-year Bible reading plan. This Bible reading plan was originated by Robert Murry M’Cheyne. There are four reading tracks in the original plan, and it was intended to be completed in one year. I am adapting his plan by following only two tracks and saving the other two for the following year. This makes it possible to read at a more relaxed pace and spend more time reflecting on the readings and perhaps digging deeper into supplemental texts.
Following this two-year reading plan we will read the first half of the Old Testament and all of the New Testament in the first year. The book of Psalms is grouped with the New Testament readings to even out the amount of chapters between the two reading tracks. Next year we will continue with the second half of the Old Testament, and we will again read the New Testament and Psalms.
Here is a PDF downloadable set of bookmarks to help keep up with this reading plan: Two-Year Bible Reading Plan. In the first year follow the bookmark set labeled “Old Testament—year 1” and the set labeled “New Testament & Psalms.” Save the other two sets for next year, or if you are ready for a greater challenge follow three or four reading tracks in one year.
I plan to blog about the Bible reading plan in 2020 and 2021 on this blog. I will schedule posts to introduce the books of the Bible on the dates we begin reading each book. I may also blog on some of the passages from time to time, but I can’t make a commitment to do so on a regular basis without risking burnout on the blog.
For Facebook users, I organized a group to encourage discussion at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TwoYearBibleReadingPlan/
I also found a handy website at: www.edginet.org/mcheyne/calendar.php with links to these daily Bible readings for those who prefer to read the posts online.
I hope you will join us on our reading journey through God’s holy Word.
