Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the book of Zechariah tomorrow, December 14. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan Bookmarks)

Zechariah was a contemporary with Haggai. They both prophesied to the Israelites following their return from exile. God gave Zechariah visions of the restoration of Jerusalem and of good times ahead for the people of Israel.

Zechariah taught the value of being kind to one another and of treating people fairly. He also had much to say about the coming Messiah, not only concerning his first appearance when he would suffer and die on the cross, but also about his second coming when he would rule over all nations. Zechariah is one of the leading prophets with prophecies about the coming of the Christ.
