Malachi
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the book of Malachi tomorrow, December 28. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan Bookmarks)
Malachi is believed to be the last prophet to speak to the Jewish people following their return from exile and before the coming of Christ, which explains the probable reason for its placement at the end of the Old Testament.
Malachi addressed the sins of the people and especially the priests. He reminded them that God had been faithful to the people of Israel. Then he confronted them for being unfaithful to God. They were not faithful to the wives of their youth, worshiped idols and married women who worshiped idols, worshiped God in form but not in truth, and sacrificed inferior animals to God.
Malachi foretold of the coming Messiah who would bless them if they put Him first. He also prophesied judgement against the wicked.
