Acts of the Disciples
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the Acts of the Apostles tomorrow, July 14. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan)
We completed the fourth Gospel three and a half months ago. We read about Jesus life on earth as he ministered to the disciples and the people. We also read about his death, and resurrection. The disciples were left in confusion and amazement.
Acts teaches us what happened with the disciples when the Holy Spirit came and gave them new courage. Before long the Jews began persecuting the Believers. We will read about Stephen who was martyred for his faith, and Saul who watched it happen. Saul became a zealous persecutor of the Believers until his after his Damascus Road conversion. Saul, given the new name of Paul, soon became one of the persecuted himself as he became one of the Apostles. Follow Paul on his missionary journeys as he carried the Gospel to the Gentiles in the surrounding nations.
