2 Chronicles
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the book of 2 Chronicles tomorrow, December 2. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan)
Second Chronicles continues where 1 Chronicles ends with the refresher history lesson for the people of Israel after they returned from their many years in exile and after the fall of Jerusalem. Second Chronicles reports on Solomon and the kings of the southern kingdom of Judah following the line of David. It omits the kings of the northern kingdom of Israel. The first nine chapters are about Solomon and the building of the temple and his palace and his other activities and death. The final chapter tells of the fall of Jerusalem into the hands of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, the 70 year exile of the Jewish nation, and the proclamation of King Cyrus of Persia who helped the Jews begin to rebuild the temple.
