Galatians
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the book of Galatians tomorrow, September 25 (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan)
The book of Galatians is a letter that Paul wrote to the churches in the region that falls within Asia Minor or what we now know as Turkey. Cities in the region of Galatia include Pisidian Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe which you may recall from reading Acts.
Paul’s letter addresses problems brought on by Judaizers who came behind Paul and insisted new believers must first become Jews and follow the Jewish laws before they can become Christians. Paul reviewed what he taught them originally and refuted the false teachings that these Jews advocated.
Paul wrote about the freedom we have in Christ to live by the Holy Spirit. Included in this book is the well-known passage about the fruits of the Spirit which empower us to live a holy life.
