The Gospel according to Luke
Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading Luke tomorrow, February 14. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan)
Luke, a doctor, is believed to be the only Gentile who wrote books of the Bible. Luke’s stated purpose in writing was to compile a thorough and accurate summary of the life of Christ and his interactions with the disciples and the events surrounding them.
Luke’s account begins with the angel appearing to Zechariah foretelling the birth of John the Baptist and includes more of the earliest days of Christ than do the other Gospels. A primary focus of Luke is on the humanity of Christ while affirming his divinity as our Savior. Luke’s account continues with the book of Acts.
