Genesis
Genesis is a book about the beginnings – the creation of the universe from nothing, the beginning of the human race, the fall of man; the continued fall into corruption leading to the flood and Noah’s ark; the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the beginnings of the Israelite nation, Joseph, and the Israelites in Egypt. Included in Genesis are the covenants God made with Noah and the animals, and with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Matthew
Matthew is the first of the Gospels in the New Testament, written by Matthew, the Jewish tax collector who became one of the Twelve Disciples. Matthew’s target audience was the Jews, as he wrote to convince them that Jesus was the Messiah, the eternal King of the Jews. Matthew focuses on how Jesus’ coming fulfilled the many prophecies found in the Old Testament.
Images
I like to include appropriate images with each of my posts, and my favorite place to find Bible images is on the website, Free Bible Images.org. This website is loaded with illustrated Bible stories intended for teachers, parents, and missionaries to use to teach Bible lessons. I encourage my readers to frequent this website for personal insights and to help you teach the younger generation about the rich heritage we have in the Scriptures.
