Why “Honeycomb” Adventures?
I know that some of you are wondering why I call this blog “Honeycomb Adventures.” The idea came from Psalm 19:9-10.
9 …The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.” (NIV)
The word “ordinances” is a fancy word that means all the love and teachings and rules God has for us in His Bible. God’s Word is sweeter than all the honey in the honeycombs. Honey is sweet, but when you taste it straight from the combs it is sweeter still.
There is another Bible verse that is much like this one. It says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8 NIV)
Let’s make a regular practice of reading from God’s Word, the Bible, so we won’t miss out on all the wonderful things God has in store for us. Taste and see – it is sweeter than honey from the comb!
Father God, help us to find the rich treasures you have stored up for us in your Bible. Make us hungry for all your special Words so we will find and taste the honey from the comb.
