Those following the two-year Bible reading plan with me will begin reading the book of Joel tomorrow, November 9. (Link to the Two-Year Bible Reading Plan Bookmarks)

The prophet Joel is best remembered by his messages to the people of Judah about the mighty swarm of locusts that devastated their land. The destruction by this army of locusts was so thorough, yet he warned the people that an even greater devastation would come. The people needed to return to God while forgiveness was still available to them. God would punish the nations that mistreated Israel, but would protect His own people.

Joel’s verse of hope (Joel 2:25) is often quoted: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten . . .” (KJV)
