Whenever I hear of any pastor or religious guru proclaiming the date of the end of the world I am persuaded that he/she is deceived and is not grounded in the Scriptures. Matthew 24:36 clearly states that no one knows the day or the hour when Jesus will return. Jesus said the angels didn’t know and that he, himself wasn’t privy to that information either. Only God knows when that day will come.
It never hurts to remember that Jesus is coming again. It is also worth noting that many events happening around the globe lead many Christians to believe that the time is near. One thing is certain – every day brings us one day closer. But we must be on guard against letting others deceive us into believing that they have prior knowledge of such things. They are only proclaiming their ignorance of God’s word.
Get a good night’s sleep Friday night (May 20, 2011) and Saturday night (May 21) and . . . Put your trust in Jesus and you can look forward to his coming with joyful expectation and not with fear.
